Offersøykammen is a small summit of 436 metres on Vestvågøya, right above the Nappstraumen. It is less known than Reinebringen, and locals walk it more often than tourists. Since 2022 it has been our favourite hike in the Lofoten, and in September 2026 we were up there for the third time. The reason is the view: From the summit you see mountains, islands and sea all the way round, 360 degrees.
Parking and trailhead
We park at the Skreda rest area on the E10, a rest area of the Norwegian Scenic Routes with free parking. The path does not start there but 700 metres further north along the road. So we first walk along the E10 to the trailhead, from where the path heads straight up the slope.
The climb
From the road the path climbs about 420 metres in just over a kilometre. Technically the hike is fairly easy, but it is steep all the way. In 2022 we stood on the summit after an hour and a half, in 2026 after about an hour. You look out over the water and the mountains while climbing, and at the top the other side comes into view as well.

The weather was different every time. In 2021 the sky was overcast and rain was forecast for the later afternoon, so we set off early and were back at the car before it started. In 2022 the sun was out and the sea shimmered pale blue around the islands. In 2026 it kept drizzling and the wind was strong, but on the way up the clouds broke open for a moment.
On the summit
Below you lies a bay with a pale sandy beach, pointed peaks rise into the clouds behind it, and on the other side a headland reaches out into the open sea. In between are turquoise shallows and small islands. In 2021 and 2022 we had a picnic at the top, and both times we had the summit to ourselves for a while.
In September 2026 the slopes had already turned reddish brown with autumn. Despite the wind and the drizzle we had an all-round view at the top.
What went wrong
The first time, Nicolas wanted to fly the drone at the top, as we had the summit all to ourselves. Just before take-off he realised that the fully charged batteries were in the car and not in the backpack. That is why we came back in 2022, this time with batteries, and the videos turned out simply epic. The way down follows the same path. Because it is so steep, in 2021 we did not want to meet the forecast rain on it.
