Rain and storm are forecast for Nøss for the whole day. The sea is rough and the sky is grey. So we decide to stay at home. For once we simply enjoy the quiet and use the time to get some work done.
Among other things, we rebuild this blog, and we do it from the ground up. The whole site has a new, modern design and works just as well on the desktop as on the phone. There is now a shop where you will soon be able to order our wall calendar and prints of our photos. Before ordering, you can see a print life-size on your own wall through your phone camera. On the home page a map shows where we are travelling right now. Under Destinations every day of travel is a point on the map, and the days of a trip are joined into a route. Photos are sharper in the full view, and every post now opens with an «In short» box that sums up the essentials.
Outside it rains almost without a break. During one of the rare and all the shorter dry moments we walk to the beach at Nøss. To be honest, it is not particularly interesting. The sand is light and fine, dark round stones lie on it, and along the top edge the dry grass has already turned brown and orange.
A small stream flows between the wet meadows into the sea, and next to it stands a wooden power pole. The wind drives the waves onto the beach in white foam. On the other side of the bay rises a dark mountain covered in reddish brown autumn leaves, with a row of white houses at its foot. The next showers are already moving in over the water. You can see them hanging from the sky like grey veils, and every now and then some light breaks through in between.
It does not stay dry for long, and we head back. A sign with small pennants fluttering in the wind points the way to Atelier Nøss. Our accommodation is right next to it, and we take one more look at it. From the outside it looks really stylish and modern. Two dark, angular buildings with tall windows stand in golden grass, the trees behind them glow orange, and above them the mountainside rises.
Inside, however, it is a bit odd and furnished far less modern than you would expect from the outside.
In return we have plenty of time to cook today, and we make fajitas. They turn out really delicious. Tomorrow is the day of the whale tour in Andenes that we booked yesterday. We hope the sea calms down a little by then.
