Sakrisøy - Nusfjord · PIXELS & TRAVELS

Today we spend the morning in our beautiful mini apartment, as the weather is rather overcast and rainy. So we can take our time over breakfast. But of course we still want to explore more of the islands, so we drive to Nusfjord around noon. On the way we make lots of stops to shoot drone videos. Nicolas tries out the car-tracking technique.

The village has become a bit more touristy, but it is still very pretty, with its colourful little houses right by the sea. The little bakery is open again too, so once more we buy some of its delicious homemade sweets.

Now the sun finally comes out, and we are in the mood for the beach! We drive to Skagsanden Beach, to Rambergstranda, where we have a picnic, and to Sandbotnen Beach. There are only a few other people on each beach. Even though the sun peeks out between the clouds now and then, the low temperatures don’t really tempt us to swim.

We make another stop at Hamnøy and Sakrisøy to take photos.

In the evening we have a cosy apéro before dinner. Even though we are both tired, we stay awake because we have a small chance of seeing northern lights. It is supposed to get cloudier during the night, but around midnight the chances are still good. So we hold out until it gets dark. Nicolas ventures outside to take a test photo, and indeed the camera shows green lights in the sky that we can’t yet see with the naked eye. That settles it: We pull on warm clothes and leave the cosy warmth behind. Luckily we have already set up our cameras. And the northern lights don’t keep us waiting long. Soon the sky is covered in green streaks! At times the lights dance across the sky, then they linger again for a while. It is beautiful once again. We can hardly believe our luck and take photos from different spots. The northern lights look especially impressive in front of the yellow houses with the sea in the foreground. The spectacle does not last long, because the clouds move in front of the lights. We are amazed that we got to see the famous, pretty little village of Sakrisøy under the northern lights.
