Lillarmsjö - Ånäset

The day started with a tasty breakfast in our cosy cabin by the lake. The weather was a bit more overcast again, we must have been very lucky yesterday! We use the good Wi-Fi to book more accommodation. Fortunately we struck lucky in Kiruna! But searching for more accommodation and tidying up unfortunately always takes too much time, and we don’t have enough left to sit by the lake one more time before checking out. Instead we chatted for a while with the very nice and interested landlord. We will definitely come back here, maybe when we visit Salome and Lucas..? Around noon we drove on to Umeå. We liked the little town very much, especially the lovely beach promenade, but unfortunately it just rained, which made our stay much shorter than planned. We ate the lunch we had just bought (wraps, salad and Tucs) in the car and were glad to be sitting somewhere warm again.

After a one-hour drive in the rain we arrived at Lufta campsite in Ånäset. Today’s highlight, however, actually happened on the unpleasant drive to the campsite. Because of the many moose warning signs, Annina kept looking out to see whether we might spot a moose after all. And indeed, only about 2 km before our accommodation, Annina, as the passenger, spotted two moose in a meadow. We turned around immediately at the next opportunity and drove back. Luckily there was a lay-by on the road with a view of the meadow, where we could pull in on the right and stop. Fortunately the two moose were still there, we quickly grabbed our cameras and managed to take a few pictures of the first moose we have ever seen in the wild. After a few seconds the moose galloped back into the forest.

That was a really great experience, we hope we see more moose soon! The cabin at the campsite is totally cosy and has everything you need. We feel very much at home here. The window faces the forest and at the moment we are almost the only campers here. After a tour of exploration we warmed up in the cabin with a hot tea.

We cook spaghetti with pesto, cherry tomatoes and hazelnuts for dinner and afterwards keep editing the photos of the insanely beautiful sunset mood from yesterday evening. We let the cosy evening wind down in bed with an episode of Big Bang Theory, while it rains outside.
