Henningsvær - Sandtorg
Today we leave the Lofoten. In Henningsvær we eat at a café with a candle workshop, look in at the football pitch and send off postcards. On the way to Sandtorg we wait a long time behind a burning lorry, eat surprisingly good veggie burgers at a petrol station and end up in a hotel somewhere between the Wild West and a fishing village.
Today we have a longer travel day ahead of us. After six nights near Ramberg we leave the Lofoten and drive on north to Sandtorg. We already packed our suitcases last night.
The first leg takes us to Henningsvær in about two hours. The fishing village is spread over small islands, and in the harbour the fishing boats line up in front of the white and orange houses. Dark clouds hang over the mountains, but again and again the sun breaks through and lights up the boats.
For lunch we go to Henningsvær Lysstøperi og Café, a candle workshop with a café. We have pizza and a dish with fried aubergines.
Afterwards we take a look at the Henningsvær football pitch, which lies right out on the rocks. We saw it once before in September 2022, in golden evening light after our hike up Offersøykammen. Today it is early afternoon, and we walk around the harbour a little more and take a few photos.
Annina posts two more postcards at the post office.

Then comes another three hours of driving to the hotel in Sandtorg. There are lots of roadworks along the way, and there has been an accident on the road. A lorry is on fire, so we wait for a very long time. When we finally drive past the lorry, it is still burning out. We can feel the heat even through our car.
On the way we stop once to fly the drone. The sun is already low over the fjord, and the slopes glow yellow and orange.
Shortly before the hotel we stop to eat. The only restaurant for miles around is an American style burger restaurant right at a petrol station. But they even have veggie burgers, and they are pretty tasty.
Our hotel is the Best Western Plus Sandtorgholmen Hotel. It is furnished entirely in western style and fisherman style, or rather a fusion of the two. The hotel is extremely noisy. Outside in a bar a Norwegian party in Ballermann style is still going on, and a few slightly tipsy Norwegian lads have already invited us. But we don’t go, because after the long day and the long drive we are pretty tired.
