Early in the morning we set off again from our Airbnb in Hamar towards the bus station. The train is not running and we have to take a replacement bus from Hamar to Lillehammer. Everything goes smoothly. The bus is even really luxurious, and the seats are ultra-comfortable.
In Lillehammer we board the train to Trondheim. On the way we can also reserve our seats for the ten-hour train journey from Trondheim to Bodø at the end of the week. We have very comfortable seats in Premium Class, which is not very busy. Looking out of the window, we happen to spot two moose, a cow and her calf, walking alongside the train. Unfortunately, there is not enough time for a good photo, but Nicolas still manages a lucky snapshot of the calf.
We arrive in Trondheim and walk to the Avis office to pick up our rental car: A Honda Jazz Hybrid, not exactly the most stylish car, but with an automatic gearbox, adaptive cruise control and hybrid drive. We don’t need more than that for such a short time. We take turns at the wheel and drive straight through to Ålvund, where we are staying the night. We sleep at a campsite, but in a cabin right by the fjord. The sunset over the sea, which we enjoy over dinner, is stunning.
