Backe - Brattfors · PIXELS & TRAVELS

Today we take advantage of not having to check out and sleep in late. We take the morning very easy and plan the afternoon. We want to explore the surroundings a little and pick out a few viewpoints and beautiful lakes. The route takes us to places even more remote than the one we are already in. The roads also get narrower and more track-like, until they are nothing but a gravel road. Our first viewpoint is in Brattfors, in a forest in the middle of nowhere. There are actually a few signposts and information boards, though. A few hiking trails are marked too. We choose a trail and explore the area. After a wooden footbridge we come to a rock face with a wall painting from approx. 6000-2000 BC. Using iron-rich earth, hunters passing by in a little boat painted a moose on the rock face after their hunt. Today the moose can still be seen on the wall!

Fascinated, we visit a few other viewpoints. Have I already mentioned that we were once again the only ones far and wide..? At the next viewpoint we have a view of a beautiful waterfall and a river. We take a lot of photos and hike along the river in the forest for a while.

Then we drive back past our accommodation in the other direction. We want to find a nice spot by a lake and read and rest there for a while in the sun. First we drive to a very remote place along an adventurous road, where Nicolas flies his drone, but unfortunately there is not much to see from the ground.

So we drive back, because on the way we saw a very nice little spot right by a lake. We drive back there and find the place still deserted. Right by the lake there was a lovely meadow with a wonderful view of the lake and the forests all around. The sun glittered on the water, so it was wonderful to read on the picnic blanket.

When the wind got stronger, we drove to our last viewpoint, for which we still had to walk the last few metres on a hiking trail. The path led through the forest, but unfortunately it broke off in the middle, so we didn’t make it to the viewpoint after all, but the forest was very beautiful. Back at the cottage we made dinner, glass noodle soup with coconut milk and salad.
