Valentine's Day in the Lofoten

Valentine's Day and anniversary in one: after a leisurely breakfast with cinnamon buns we're defeated by the snowed-in 'Matterhorn of the North', but enjoy the viewpoint over Reine and the Lofoten Store instead. The evening is all ours, rosé, apéro and spaghetti in Sakrisøy.

Valentine's Day in the Lofoten

We start today very leisurely with an extensive breakfast: oven-warmed cinnamon buns and Nordic crispbread with cucumber, cherry tomatoes and cheese, plus orange juice. Outside it’s very grey and wintry. We want to walk to the “Matterhorn of the North”, but have to accept that it’s probably inaccessible in winter, there’s about a metre of snow and no cleared access road.

So we drive on instead and stop at a viewpoint in Reine, from where we enjoy the view over the little fishing village. Afterwards we visit the Lofoten Store once again, which offers a photo and art exhibition as well as souvenirs. Nicolas flies his drone and captures some more footage before we head back to our accommodation in Sakrisøy. There we spend the rest of our anniversary properly cosy with rosé, apéro and spaghetti. We also edit photos and write this very blog.
