Today we get up early, because our journey continues. Breakfast is included at the hotel, so we help ourselves at the modest buffet. We pack our things and return the car to Hertz in Narvik. Then we head back to the hotel, buying food for the train journey and souvenirs on the way.
Back at the hotel, we grab our luggage and check out. The way to the train station in Narvik is exhausting, as we are no longer used to carrying our own luggage, and the whole route is uphill. Narvik station is tiny: There is only one train every two hours, so there is only one platform, which makes finding our train very easy. We have reserved seats, but the carriage with our seats is completely full, because a large German tour group is sitting in it. So we just sit in another carriage where there are still free seats. During the 7.5-hour train ride, we eat and edit our photos and videos. We also play several rounds of Monopoly on the iPad. Our train is late, but we still manage to catch the connecting train at Boden C. Our next train is already waiting on the neighbouring track, a night train to Stockholm. But we only travel as far as Umeå Östra. This train is late as well, and we reach our destination after four hours instead of three and a half.
Salome and Lucas pick us up at the station and take us to their shared flat, where we are staying the night.
