Sakrisøy - Nusfjord

A leisurely morning, then drone stops on the way to the pretty fishing village of Nusfjord and beach-hopping at Skagsanden, Ramberg and Sandbotnen. The real highlight comes at midnight: northern lights dancing over the orange houses of Sakrisøy, we can hardly believe our luck.

An empty road between massive rock faces in the Lofoten

Today we spend the morning in our beautiful mini apartment, as the weather is rather overcast and rainy. So we can take our time to have a relaxing breakfast. But of course we want to visit the islands further and drive to Nusfjord around noon. On the way we make many stops to take drone videos. Nicolas tries out the car tracking technique.

The village has become a bit more touristy but still very nice with the colorful little houses right by the sea. Also the small bakery has opened again, which means we get us again from the delicious homemade sweets.

Now finally the sun comes out. That makes us want to go to the beaches! We drive to the Skagsandenbeach, the Rambergstranda, where we have a picnic and to the Sandbotnen beach. At each beach there are only a few other people. Even though the sun shines out from time to time between the clouds, the low temperatures don’t really invite us to swim.

We make another stop at Hamnøy and Sakrisøy to take photos.

In the evening we have a cozy apero before dinner. Even though we are both tired, we stay awake because we have a small chance of seeing northern lights. It is supposed to get cloudier during the night, but around midnight we would still have chances. So we hold out until it gets dark, Nicolas dares to go out to take a test photo and indeed there are green lights in the sky on the camera, which we can’t see with the naked eye yet. And with that it’s a done deal, we throw ourselves into warm clothes and leave the cozy warmth. Good, we have already set our cameras before. And the northern lights are not long in coming. Already the sky is covered with green stripes! Alternately, the lights dance across the sky and then stay again a little longer. It is beautiful again, we can hardly believe our luck and take many pictures at different points. Especially in front of the orange houses with the sea in the foreground the northern lights look impressive. The natural spectacle does not last long, because the clouds push themselves in front of the lights. We are amazed that we were privileged to see the well-known and beautiful village of Sakrisøy with northern lights.
